= Like FANGIRL and additional accessories ideas, adapting masks would make the most sense for both the safety of the models in the shoot and for an additional promotional piece within the editorial
= It is also an easy way of applying patches properly, whilst the models' patches have to be applied in a temporary way so that it doesn't damage their own clothes
= could either have patches on, the logo or both
= Some models can wear their own bandanas or scarfs rather than the made masks to show that individuality within the shoot
= For that reason I'll only buy and customise 5 masks (this means buying the transfer paper for dark textiles)
= Instead of buying more things, it would be cheaper and faster to get these masks printed on fabric in digital print, which I can then adapt into bandanas for the models to wear
= Elements from each illustration can be taken and and placed with other illustrations, or taken and scanned individually so that they can be moved around digitally
= Will be interesting to see how the 3D layering shows up with the blue tack when scanned
= Owl doesn't work as well as the other outcomes, can adapt this one to feel more cohesive with the others (sunglasses?)
= Found that blue on yellow is black, not bright blue and that when mixing colours start with the lighter colours first
= Also avoid over blending the colours and instead place the paintbrush in a mix of paints and do one stroke, rather than doing the base colour and adding extra colours on top
= The textures of the paint should come through better on the scans rather than photos
= Different backgrounds can be done digitally for that mixture between painting and digital
= Fruit direction works for a theme but also a random object into characters could work better
= There doesn't necessarily have to be a theme within the outcomes if the direction is playful characters and fruit sticker inspired patches

CALL WITH NOREEN AND LINA
SET DESIGN IDEAS
= Direction of fruit aesthetic, inspiration taken from fruit stickers and background message around naivety in children and how gender is not recognised in younger children
> Plastic children's fruit toys Noreen owns could be brought and implemented somehow (like hidden messages?) (people throwing them at each other or lying in them?)
> Lina in gender studies learned about an experiment where children under 5 (no concept of gender) were put in opposite gender clothes to their biological gender, and strangers came in and gave them toys to play with: Video was a big white room, like a void of all gender ideas
REFLECTION
> 'Day' section at beginning could be this blinding white light or coloured light on the models wherein everything is abstract and unknown, and only hints of various elements and themes come through (almost to reflect a child growing and learning)
> 'Night' section reveals all and contextualises everything (rebellious and playful)
= Shift in the video could be presented with change in lighting, models' movements etc.
> Lina suggestion on change in colour saturation?
= Ben Pechy: "know when to be silent for other people to speak"
= I want to have this moment for each person to present their individuality and how the patches are used by them
= This could be presented through either, a focus on the individual with lighting, slow motion or collaging digitally
= Lina suggestion: UAL student Louis scanned body parts for collage idea
= Interesting approach within the scope of this brief as it looks almost as they are stuck behind glass, trying to break free from
MAKE UP
= Suggested the concept of painted brush strokes mixed with very clean cut shapes
= This presents the mixture of painting and digital work in the actual illustrations
= But I think the paint brushes may be too painterly when the painting of the illustrations is quite clean cut
= What if everyone was made more animated, like the illustrations themselves eg. the lip lined, or thick black dark eyebrows to recreate the eyes
> Noreen will work on ideas for the next two weeks
> Noreen: will the design be applied to everyone?
> Important that there is consistency and a sense of cohesion between all the models, but of course individuality is important and their own style should shine through, so colour choices to match their outfits could be used
= When applied this initial idea for make up didn't translate well with the direction of the patches
= They are much more graphic and bold, whereas this make up is much more fine art painting aesthetic
= The shapes would need to be filled and more clean cut, and the 'paint strokes' much more evidently painted rather than like smooth blotches
= With further development in the patches more ideas will come on how to develop the make up
NEXT 9th CALL
= Present ideas around space, video and make up
= Show them the patches and painted pieces
