I think it is good that you have a thematic/conceptual focus on design ethics and social change
I think it is also good that you are expanding your definition/understanding of graphic design to include other practices (sculpting, fashion, etc.) and I think you are right.
However, when approaching these processes and skills you should do so as a graphic designer. You should not expect that you can become a bona-fide fashion designer, sculptor, etc. with the click of a finger. Instead you should incorporate these processes into your design practice as a means to question what design is or can be.
Also, you should use level 6 to build on skills you already have. We don’t advise that you spend this time learning new processes from scratch so do be careful what alternative outputs you choose to incorporate within your work.
Statement of Intent Revision
I want to go into the creative industries with an understanding and scope for social, cultural and political issues. How can I educate myself and develop my skills so that when I begin to produce work for the public it can have a positive impact on people? Design and creativity should be fun and playful, and if not, should help create change and a better future. If all creatives instilled this ethos into their work the world would be a nicer place for everyone. My practice has always been led with a fine art foundation, and so either with a graphic design perspective or through collaborations I want to explore other creative areas such as sculpting, fashion and so on. My general interests will always be more grounded in physical production, but I love seeing these amalgamated into digital platforms so that they become accessible to everyone.
