Further packaging development + Shoot story board

 Packaging Development

= Mirrored for vibrancy in pink tape on both sides
= Only section this is cut off is on the flap so that it an be opened easily
= Other side could also be cut off to mirror this but the square shape and edges would be lost and this would look less consistent

= With tape on both sides the packaging is also more successful when interacted with and opened as you can see the divide between each side and therefore the notion of breaking through the barriers is more prominent
= Otherwise the tape feels more like decoration than a comment on rebellion and policing

= Many variations available when applying the logo to the sleeve
1 large centred
2 smaller centred or in a corner
3 on the tape

= All of these options could make the use of a stamp, but one and two are faster and easier to produce due to only needing it once rather than repeated like on the tape

= Having one large logo makes it feel very powerful and prominent, and created a centred focus for the packaging

= As it layers over the tape it also feels more rebellious, as it doesn't align with the tape in any sense but overpowers it

= This reflects a sense of breaking boundaries more successfully than the others, which utilise the tape for layout of the logo, almost as if the brand itself is part of the boundaries

= The vibrancy of this tape also works consistently with the bright colours in the patch design, and could be implemented into the clothes and shoot (perhaps people may use tape on their face?)

= Having two colours for the packaging again gives this choice and sense of diversity within the brand. Didn't want to choose blue as it isn't as vibrant and making the stereotypical pink and blue colours as the main brand's colours is too obvious and boring in terms of gender inclusivity

= Using a transparent sleeve rather than an opaque envelope also feels like a more modern alternative to the latter, more appealing to the target audience, and it allows the patches to be seen and to remain the main focus of the brand and visuals

= This overall packaging design aligns greatly with the feedback in the focus group to which the participants asserted a simple, ambiguous monochrome logo is bold and powerful and allows the designs to speak for themselves and to be the main focus

= communication with Susie from printmaking

- best solution is vinyl rather than printing on plastic

- only way to print on plastic is screen printing which takes a long preparation time for such simple design

- no vinyl cutting in digital print with corona but could print logo on transparent sticker?

TESTING

= successful sticker, clear logo
= make design larger and print

= With the patches printed larger than I planned for, the packaging is too small for the larger pieces
= The smaller ones still fit however and as a portrayal of how it would've worked as packaging it works
= The tape and large logo feels very loud and almost overpowering with the patches inside but this works with the ethos of rebellion and breaking boundaries
= The loudness of the overall package is very reflective of the patches themselves with their colour and illustrations
= The tape blocking off the patches also works in that when the user takes them out it will create this interaction of engaging with breaking boundaries and hidden messages and bringing them out for everyone to see

STORY BOARD

= Issues with studio booking as a result of covid
= Takes up to two weeks to confirm studio booking once they allowed external people in to the uni
= Equipment can no longer be taken out as they changed the drop off times and they are now booked up
= this means working with just natural light, of which the day is possibly going to rain

= even getting photos of the clothing and a simple video to overlay the pictures on top of will be something to present the branding in motion
= working around these corona difficulties means making less developed outcomes but as long as the branding is shown and developed
