= Focus on textures and this digital aesthetic is a really interesting direction for a perspective on love, sex and relationships in a digital world of lockdown 
= Experiments with the 3D type, transparent cracked texture alike to a phone screen 
= Splash interaction with text plays with this notion of something erotic



= Playing on the 3D with collage of weird reference images for digital sex

KATE DAVIS : LOGGING ONTO LOVE 

Experimental videos, imagery and sound design exploring the dystopian perspective on sex robots and replacing real relationships with technological alternatives

“I like to work with devices used by people who are accessing ‘relationship replacement’ services such as camera phones and webcams. I think this gives my work authenticity,” Kate explains. Her pixelated images of sexbots and webcam screenshots of half-naked women are brutally arresting, featuring female figures looking out of the photographs with deadpan expressions. By blending the familiar and unfamiliar, Kate’s images produce an authenticity that unsettles and provokes. “‘Replacement relationships’ are on the rise and I wanted to create a body of work that is both visually disturbing and alluring at the same time.” Even her Instagram is filled with uncanny images of computer keyboards and CCTV cameras: a glaring reminder that there is no privacy in the age of cybersex, artificial intimacy and digital surveillance.





= The disturbing perspective on this is not something I would particularly take forward for the zine on lockdown love and sex, as this is more of a humorous project 
= The use of colour in her work and instagram is very cohesive and appealing however, and I like the experimental approach 
= Random pieces of imagery and a digital style to the pictures makes for a very relevant aesthetic  
= The presentation of images within a simple rounded screen also alludes to this notion of digital and technology, and is a simple subtle visual choice which works well rather than such obvious pointers and visuals

Identity EVALUATION

Alike to GAIA EXRTH, it was disappointing not being able to complete the brief within the timescale set out. I recognise that I like working a lot on passion projects and pushing them further and further, to the point that perhaps the goals I set are unrealistic or I spend too long on one level/area of the project. In this case this was a research brief and I set out to spend a lot of time doing research and testing ideas. I found this a more difficult brief to do within the covid landscape and felt less inspired, as I wanted to go out into the world and look at things, ask people, visit places and so on. This meant this project took a back seat and by the end of the year revisiting it so late on meant there was no time to fulfil the visions I had for the project. It's exciting however to have so many projects I'm interested in to be continuing after uni as it means I can keep the momentum up of designing and producing more ideas and more work. PPP Task 1 Research

  LAYOUTS and UX I've noticed design studios use for their sites: 1. Simple white layout or black and white layout, sans-serif bold text, no specific logo or style present, scroll down box images of each project 2. Introductory logo used as image window or general logo, interaction leads into actual site  3. More interesting layout utilises UX more and guides the user through the different areas with seamless arrows  4.
