Packaging Presentation + Social Media Development
> As I don't have any more small patches or the whole range of patch designs to scan in packaging, I scanned the ones available individually and in the packaging so that I could play around with how to present it digitally
Problem with putting scans of patches on top of packaging digitally is the logo sticker is hidden, and so may have to pull out the sticker from the packaging and overlay it on top
> When scanning the patches they don't look that much different than if I placed them digitally
> Play around with the colour background for the packaging pictures between white for a transparent look and pink, as colour may make it pop whilst white makes it clear and gives space for the patches to be the prominent feature
= Problem with the images scanned onto white is that this white is more of a grey compared to a digital white on screen
= This makes it look less crisp
= Experiments on black however make it look dark, and does not reflect the colourful and playful ethos of the brand
= Having the patches in the packaging on top of the printed brand fabric would be nice however it would mean not being able to see the patches in the packaging clearly
= Tutor commented on the importance of presenting the patch packaging for both the small and large sizes, and with doing this in editing and transparent packaging this becomes more difficult
= Don't want to buy larger packaging when it would be the same as the smaller however
= Separating the small scanned patches in packaging and the larger digitally created patches in packaging meant they wouldn't overlap and reveal the latter as digitally made
= This meant a lot of negative space however which was difficult to fill in a way that looked genuine suing digital patches rather than scanned ones
= The greyish background colour also does not help elevate the overall presentation
= Thought about incorporating the fabric textures of the logo customised onto the clothes from the shoot to bring into another dimension of the brand's presentation
= This looked messy however, so is best to leave the textures and clothing images to their own separate visuals
= Eg. Scan of printed textiles with crumples and layer above this images from the shoot
= This development has balance within the page by using the extra patches as decoration that has the ability to be placed off stage, rather than being used to present each patch perfectly
= The digital logo 'sticker' on the right package needs to be made more grey to fit the scanned stickers on the left
= Digital patches had their saturation lowered to make them look more alike to the scanned fabric patches, and also to make sure the digital ones didn't makes the scans look dull
= So much detail in the patch design background that having a complicated photo on top makes everything difficult to focus on
= Images larger work better but it's a shame the background should be appreciated for its own beauty in something else eg. insta post?
= FOcussed images on one person also means the background can be apprecuated as well as the photogrpah
= Playing around with the photos to work cohesively with the background rather than as a two layers is also successful, and this adapting of the pictures is reflective of the notion of adapting and customising within the whole brand's ethos
= Also makes it look more playful and experimental rather than high fashion or editorial
= Symbol of spiral and lines used to cut out of images to create this interaction between foreground and background as they are motifs within the patches
Instagram Post Development
As a final step in the creation of this brand the presentation of the outcomes and brand as a whole should be shown through a social media scope
> Important way that this brand would connect with the target audience of young people and creatives
> Creates an online persona of the brand and gives the brand its personality (marketing tool)
= Trying to put the logo within photographs using negative space similar to the spirals and soft paint brush strokes in other photographs
= This wasn't successful as the patches behind make the letters and logo too illegible and hard to see at this small size
= Doing this for a larger on its own Instagram post could work
= This works successfully as the detail of the patches is concentrated within a larger logo, making the logo more visible and legible
= The amount of negative space ensures balance and space for this detailed logo to breathe
= The use of a clipping mask on the logotype to incorporate the patches as colour communicates the brands ethos of gender inclusivity and expression. This is also emphasised by using a minimal black background to allow the logotype to pop and suggest the colour is breaking free from its negative space.
= Lowered the saturation of the patches on both the insta post and on this individual logo experiment but peer feedback showed that it should
= Trying to get too many of the models individual shots onto each section and not wanting to make the post over 6 squares
= Making it feel very complicated and the viewer cant appreciate each photograph
= Need space to breathe
= Can put other images on different post
= Saturation of background patches needs to be increased even more to feel vibrant and fun
= Present this post and instagram posts as a screen recording and mocked up on a phone to present realistic portrayal of how it would look
