Brief |
|
Lockdown Lovelust is a print publication which explores how lockdown
affected relationships and love and lust in younger people. |
|
Background/Considerations |
|
Content Considerations Lockdown was an unprecedented experience for young people and had a particularly strong impact on their sex lives and relationships. A variety of experiences within this scope should be documented and presented to the reader through the publication. An experimental direction should be taken when approaching this publication. A range of processes and techniques should be used, including collage, film photography, digital manipulation, 3D imagery and so on. Physical production choices should be made to reflect the topic and discussions, eg. the use of tip ins. It should be non-linear and interactive. Production costs should be kept low for mass production purposes. The tone should be feminist and sex positive. It should act as a
physical reflection of a safe space and ethical considerations should be
taken when approaching participants for the content. Diversity and
inclusivity must also be considered. Alongside the publication and its production, documentation and publicity of this publication should be presented on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook to reach the target audience. This involves an Instagram account with visual posts, and the same for Facebook. For these a visual identity must be produced, which includes elements from the publication such as colour choices, logo, type and so on. This online identity must reflect the tone and visuals of the publication. With additional time other publicity products may be produced, such as t-shirts, head scarfs/bandanas, key rings and so on. The collaboration with peer graphic designer should see equal contributions.
Different sections of the publication will be produced by each collaborator
under their strengths as designers, but general decisions, ideas and
developments will see inputs from both designers. Both designers will also take
on photography and interviews for content. Background Considerations The target audience is young people aged between
16 and 30 who engage with zines, art and music culture. They are also
interested in and feel comfortable around the topic of sex. Made up of
predominantly students, this group appreciate experimental art direction and
are generally creative individuals. |
