Brief |

Produce posters that explore a futuristic aesthetic using fashion
photography, 3D visuals and other experimental visual processes. |
|
Background/Considerations |
|
Content Considerations Ideas around the future and what it may look like have intrigued people
for centuries, and with lockdown changing life as we know it, the future is
an even more prevalent topic. Through a fashion, experimental scope, the
outputs in this brief should explore the future from a distinctive Japanese
inspired futuristic aesthetic. This typically presents a style that is cyber,
and almost retro in the way it explores the future and its fashion, such as
dysfunctional puffy space suits and unusual CGI characters. A series of posters should be created that follow this aesthetic using
the fashion photography and styling done by the collaborator. These posters should
present a hypothetical rave event. Research and idea generation should be done
collaboratively, but each creative should focus on specific areas that play
to their strengths, with the graphic designer working on the visuals and
layout of the posters. Developments will be discussed together, however the
outcome must respond to the direction chosen by the collaborator, who has initiated
the project. Research should be done on: Rave posters, Design around Y2K fashion,
futuristic aesthetics and design that interacts with photographic elements. The poster backgrounds should be approached in a variety of ways: 3D
scenes, hand rendered abstract collage spaces, digital textures and gradients
and so on. Typography should also be incorporated. Secondary research for
this should look at 2000s futuristic prints and publications, films and
rave/events posters. Additional avenues on top of posters may be explored once the developments
of various visual ideas are under way. This could be a presentation of the
posters in real life contexts, with the models used in the posters present in
the photo. This would present the irony around the rave poster in this period
of lockdowns and cancelled events. Background Considerations The target audience are young adults ranging from 18 to 25 years old, who
live and study in student areas where the posters will be placed. This
includes a range of individuals, including creative and academic students – a
diverse student community. They are a group with a range of ethnicities and
backgrounds. |
