> Difficulties in producing designs in that I have been choosing which photos I like and which ones I think work together and then I develop them with the layout and details, but this allows more space for Rhianna to be against such developments, particularly if the details obstruct the photos or don't give them the space of prominence
> Getting her to label which images are needed to be included for definite, and then whether these can be played around with or should be prominent without detail images helped smooth the development of designing and saving time from redesigning
> With definite images she wants I sometimes have to reuse visuals to ensure there is visuals throughout the spread
> Inspired by the metal man in aesthetic research, wanted to recreate this using the tessa images
> Found through researching how to produce metallic effects onto people in photoshop that it is best to have a muscly man as they have lots of different tones throughout their body
> Adapted this idea to a more holographic visual of tessa on right hand side, playing around with gradient mapping, thresholding and outer glows
> Similar direction with wireframes, low opacity geometric orbs provide an added technical, futuristic detail
> Gradient full bleed on the right brings together the spread through use of colour
> After successfully using specific typefaces in previous spreads and now this these can be used indefinitely throughout, with SOFACHROME for large text and headings, and other more simple typefaces for body and information text for legibility
> All typefaces chosen have a futuristic quality about them, mostly through a condensed quality. They are all sans serif bold types, appropriate for the tone of the subject
> First spread done quickly compared to other spreads and without experimentation
> Getting into the flow of the aesthetic and direction of publication
> Lots of these photos needed to all be seen by the viewer because they as a collection provide a beautiful sense of movement and transition
> The images themselves are the detail and focus, and so not much additionally was needed to be added and didn't want to be added
> Simple text to provide context and create balance on the page
> Bold, condensed sans-serif type consistent with previous spread designs
> Simple spread in use of amazing landscape photo
> Not much space in the image to add detail and there doesn't need to be added detail
> Images that Rhianna didn't need including in the publication, but I think there is something unique about the images that are a focus on the fashion rather than the model
> Using these images also mean I can play around with them and she won't want me to lessen the details or keep it more simple
> Use of circles find very futuristic, idea of magnifying or windows into information
> Use of outer glows and white lines that can be used throughout the publication
> Finding it difficult to fit with this left page the right hand image however, there's too much negative space which makes this spread feel less impactful
> Full bleed image right hand side instead to create more impact
> Image change to one which captures your attention more strongly and gives an ethos of being about the fashion side specifically
> Detail additions with text for dimension and texture, and to create a more rounded refined spread
> Gradient in background means the space bottom left doesn't feel too empty and rather is space for the colour transition
> Want to look into the 3D side of this theme on futurism and transhumanism > Does not necessarily go with this spread??
> Does the colourful rainbow aesthetic pair well with the gradient monochrome?
> Use of circles as windows and focusses into textiles and textures works really well
> Similar use of circular windows with the gradient colouring from the left image into a focus shape bottom right
> Additional detail that elevates the design and provides connection between the colourful page and the monochrome page
