Development 4 - Crit Feedback

- Ethics should be considered 

- Should be cautious as text and imagery is explicit and sensitive 

- Create opening page onto website as explicit computer message? In aesthetic with website but still communicating to user that they should be over 18

- Emails from everyone who gave stories and photos confirming they agree it can be published

- Could there be clearer navigation around the website?

- Chaos of website is purposeful to reflect the chaos of navigating relationships, sex, lust and love during lockdown 

- There should be a clear piece of text at start to tell the viewer what it is they're looking at, what is the website about? How is it navigated? 

DEVELOPMENTS 

> More inputting into the website to see how things designed on photoshop with wix functions in mind actually need to be placed and assorted


> For images from articles on main website page, could close crops of different article sections could be placed there? 

> Pop up window idea for tips n tricks article successful 
> Additional detail from pop up aesthetic placed beneath interactive title 'tips n tricks' for consistency in journey between articles and designs 
> Hover interactivity means automatic pop-up which creates further motion in page 
> Need to check on other laptops how zoomed into websites they automatically are as I think on mine it's always very zoomed in at 100%, and general text size and size of visuals should be made in a way that is legible and balanced on all common laptop website magnifications 





TO MAKE 
1 Error computer message over 18 for start of website for ethics (could appear when user hovers over main name title visual) 
2 Piece in Ell's article (elements need to be individually added for parallax and dimensional scrolling and interaction)
3 Piece in Aria's article 
4 Create animations for these articles 

Playing around with parallax scroll wix 

> Only works with strips above an image, it is the movement of these strips on the image that makes it feel dimensional 
> This means creating another image for the background for each article, or somehow placing the background imagery for the article (bottom layer of visuals) as the background 
> The background does not move however, the picture stays in the same place 
> How to have the background changing slowly as the top layer of images also change? 

> Stretching pictures and recreating these to fit into the larger width instead of just the chosen central ratio given by wix to work on all platforms doesn't work
> Images too large for landscape small visible area, prevents mobile sites working (although should discuss with Joely whether to block mobile sites so that they have to see it properly as mobile versions on wix take away all the layering and design decisions)

> Therefore Need to make backgrounds for all articles
> Background utilises designs present on the main website page for cohesiveness and to save time, still works successfully here and doesn't feel repetitive 
> Layout and structure of background like a porn site, but the images within made to distort and repeat to present the glitching development later on with the article aesthetic 
> Combining both


> Frustrating thing about wix is it doesn't allow images to be perfectly fit to the screen, so even remaking this to be smaller in height to fit all details in didn't work 
> Dimensions given by wix on google for full screen sizes is also incorrect, as you cannot see bottom of background even when designing to these dimensions 

> 


PEER FEEDBACK 
- It feels confusing with a website layout but all of the elements moving across the website sections eg. the bar on the left is overridden by bars of pull quotes 
- Why are they full screen when all other elements are in a specific central section?



> Works much more smoothly with the bars smaller and working in junction with main sections
> Should I have spaces visible between each section to show the parallax scroll or would getting rid of these gaps completely make the overall article scroll feel smoother and less confusing to follow for the user? 
> Combining both after testing both ideas 
> Text bars joined together with article sections of images, but larger more distinctive two gaps between two sections 
> Larger spaces ensure user recognises it's showing the background and not mixing with front layers 

> Overall article for Ell really successful and been really fun to make 
> Over the top animations for Ell article presenting in your face porn website aesthetic of popup and constant eye-catching visuals and motions 
> Animating of error messages further below worth the time and effort in separating from main visuals to ensure sense of error and glitching is emphasised to viewer 

> For next articles

- Background needed 
- Don't use strips if you want freedom over where images can be placed within Wix margins 
- Elements can be used (for aria less tacky in your face animations will be more appropriate for a more sensitive, personal story)


> Solving Background Issue with Wix

> Take out bottom element and place it in the footer as a way to recreate the layout through wix's layout 
> Side website black bar is still cut off but this is not as noticeable

Identity EVALUATION

Alike to GAIA EXRTH, it was disappointing not being able to complete the brief within the timescale set out. I recognise that I like working a lot on passion projects and pushing them further and further, to the point that perhaps the goals I set are unrealistic or I spend too long on one level/area of the project. In this case this was a research brief and I set out to spend a lot of time doing research and testing ideas. I found this a more difficult brief to do within the covid landscape and felt less inspired, as I wanted to go out into the world and look at things, ask people, visit places and so on. This meant this project took a back seat and by the end of the year revisiting it so late on meant there was no time to fulfil the visions I had for the project. It's exciting however to have so many projects I'm interested in to be continuing after uni as it means I can keep the momentum up of designing and producing more ideas and more work. PPP Task 1 Research

  LAYOUTS and UX I've noticed design studios use for their sites: 1. Simple white layout or black and white layout, sans-serif bold text, no specific logo or style present, scroll down box images of each project 2. Introductory logo used as image window or general logo, interaction leads into actual site  3. More interesting layout utilises UX more and guides the user through the different areas with seamless arrows  4.
