Lockdown Magazine Re-Sparking

 


- Guardian article at start of newspaper always has this internal conversation as the structure of the content 

- Or like on Come Dine with Me shows where there is a narrator to carry along the show and provide additional comedy, we could present the stories written by the individuals on their lockdown experiences in this way

- eg. 

Aria: "then I fucked my ex" 

Narrator: "you didn't!" 

> Agreed with Joely it should have a humurous satirical approach

> Takes a strong satirical don't-give-a-fuck attitude about design and following editorial rules 

> Experimental, fun, playful, tongue-in-cheek and with witty ideas and comments around the topic of boys 






> None of these parts are really related, or explainable, but I love the way this sequence spirals and cross-refers, never quite explaining itself – you feel it rather than understanding it.

> The Mushpit world of boys, social media and twentysomething angst is brought to vivid life on the pages.


> Series of full bleed photo spreads showing digital vs reality of lockdown relationships, sexting and online dating?

> eg. What they think the person looks like when sexting vs what they actually are doing 

> Fun play on reality and visuals of it 

> What if it's a series showing the difficulty of taking a good nude, and showing the girl eventually giving up 

> Shows the chosen photo she chooses and it's just a basic bra picture

> Similar playful direction but with more of a girly feminine conventional approach 

> Feels almost naïve childish style with pastel colours and a soft tone

> what if the babestation spin off logo about lockdown is based on the aesthetics/signs from corona virus designs 


> tv underneath virus doesn't work if replicating the side by side text layout of original corona signs 



> 3D silvered metallic text above 3D shape with warning lines works well in reflecting a porn site aesthetic like porn hub or babestation and reflects the corona aesthetic 
> what if I replicate other corona virus posters with the context of lockdown horn and mistakes? 


> too many ideas going on at the same time, motion blur of people, different more characteristic type instead of legible plain type gov docs use 
> If replicating an idea with different context the idea should maintain simplicity as this will effectively communicate to the viewer what it is 
> Obviously a social distancing poster 
> respect blocking: is it clear enough what it is referencing? 
> social distancing works well in suggesting the idea of keeping people away in itself but is too literal and real 
- ex distancing 
- sexual distancing 

> Replication of other corona posters using diagrams of symptoms and changing text to about contacting exs in lockdown because of horniness and loneliness 
> Works well and is funny 
> gradient on this and 3D shiny circle around 'respect sexual distancing' creates depth, something interesting and different to having them completely the same as real corona posters 
> yellow and green colours feel sickening which is appropriate for reflecting the sick feeling about texting your ex 



> Cant have this corona idea and babestation altogether as there are too many ideas in one and it will become convoluted and unclear  
> Separate these two ideas into different sections 
> Does this mean I need to change the cockrona babestation logo? 
> Combines both ideas, may be too much 
> Could I use it elsewhere? 

> It has little reflection of babestation, which in itself isn't the most recognisable logo
> There is more of an overall language of porn sites that I can take from to communicate to the viewer what I'm doing

Identity EVALUATION

Alike to GAIA EXRTH, it was disappointing not being able to complete the brief within the timescale set out. I recognise that I like working a lot on passion projects and pushing them further and further, to the point that perhaps the goals I set are unrealistic or I spend too long on one level/area of the project. In this case this was a research brief and I set out to spend a lot of time doing research and testing ideas. I found this a more difficult brief to do within the covid landscape and felt less inspired, as I wanted to go out into the world and look at things, ask people, visit places and so on. This meant this project took a back seat and by the end of the year revisiting it so late on meant there was no time to fulfil the visions I had for the project. It's exciting however to have so many projects I'm interested in to be continuing after uni as it means I can keep the momentum up of designing and producing more ideas and more work. PPP Task 1 Research

  LAYOUTS and UX I've noticed design studios use for their sites: 1. Simple white layout or black and white layout, sans-serif bold text, no specific logo or style present, scroll down box images of each project 2. Introductory logo used as image window or general logo, interaction leads into actual site  3. More interesting layout utilises UX more and guides the user through the different areas with seamless arrows  4. Either all the outputs are seen together collectively small, or they are large, independent, you have to scroll/click through to get to different briefs  STUDIOS that produce work I'm interested in: YES — Featured - Mostly do site designs and UX which is something I have only touched on - But their aesthetic and direction is really similar to where I would picture myself going, feels very artistic, has touches of fine art there rather than other studios which feel extremely one dimensional graphic design, super commercial branding  - Work with lo...
