Initial Ideas Continued
> Should be strong, bold colours
> Should not feel too exclusively stereotypically feminine colours (eg. pink and purple used a lot in discussion on menopause)
> More inclusive colours should be used
> Deep oranges and reds feels very impactful but may feel too 'blood like' related?
> Silvered purples work well in appealing to large audience and working as a more neutral aesthetic, but it feels more calm than impactful?
> Black type more prominent and more successful than white
> Type affected by angle layer is more interesting but does it make it less impactful?
> Peer Feedback suggestion to make the pause symbol more prominent compared to words 'me' and 'no'
> Longer the pause symbol is feels distorted however
> Stroke placed above creates distinctive letterforms but allows fill to have the darker and lighter changes from the angular gradient, create sense of depth and dimension to reflect 'hidden' and 'coming out'
> 3D dimension to type with stroke misaligned also creates more depth and illustrative quality
> Experiment on insta posts should show me the aesthetic that works
> Using the angular gradient as motif aesthetic throughout for consistency as this is a successful development
> Range of type creates character, presents appeal to larger audience base?
> Filling gaps with positive visuals like stars works but overall colour palette and stars feels almost childish, too feminine as well

> More bold direction, use of emojis to replace words as planned in sketches for faster communication to viewer and for fun visuals
> Too many ideas at once here with gradient background clocks, actual emojis work better
> Further developments to type to make it more prominent
> Initially felt more simplistic direction would be more appropriate but this more dimensional approach works
> Type faces cohesive with each other rather than feeling like a range of contrasting types like first design
> Green may be too sickly for message but overall vivid quality is successful
> Typeface for risks may also feel too ominous for a positive message?
> Layering of type with 3D type also creating more depth which works well
> Explore more 3D ideas?
> Colour combinations still feel off
> Wanted a range of different vivid colours for each post but perhaps it would be more effective and consistent to pick four and stick with these?
> Also still doesn't feel positive and empowering enough, better visuals are needed perhaps, photography of happy people or 3D visuals?
> Successful developments: turquoise blue greens with purples and pinks, brings together balance of both stereotypical genders and therefore becomes neutral
> As colours and contrast it's very prominent and powerful
> Use of stroke type, 3D and outer glows all working together create strong message, with hierarchy on specific words placed
> Filling up layout with element so that design is full to edges works well in creating a sense of fullness, which opposes the notion of menopause as being 'empty'
> Problem with symbol is it cannot be typed into instagram as an actual hashtag to find the campaign
> Will have to be as me_no_pause
> Merging together layer style where in the visual integrates with time background gradient emphasises the background and creates interesting visual, but may not be prominent enough
> Symbols for each highlight should be clear and legible
> 3D glass experiment not relevant for subject, broken glass from smashed clock could be used as extended metaphor for aesthetic but this would be difficult and it would be hard to reinforce this as a positive message rather than just glass, breaks, weak etc.
> 3D development of visuals however is a strong way to make them prominent and to develop this 3D idea and see where it goes

> Shiny metal aesthetic reflects strength within symbols and therefore in overall tone around menopause, but does it dehumanise the direction? Does it make it feel too distanced from people?
> As highlights which are small visuals, these will work successfully as individual elements. If the main posts and direction touches on a human level and keeps it genuine then having metallic 3D strong highlight visuals won't
> Initial sketches looked to changing colours between each highlight visual, but with the background angular orientation changing alongside the visuals themselves for consistency and clarity keeping all the colours the same is more successful
> Collectively they work together well, are consistent, bold and prominent
> All symbols created are clear in their subject, and with additional headings under each highlight it will be even clearer
> Slight inconsistencies within actual graphics in terms of chosen shadowing on 3D objects and colouring, which could be altered eg. woman's face stronger black shadowing than others
> More androgynous profile as well to be more inclusive in an image of one person, better to be neutral than one specific gender
Overall ideas so far in development
> Successfully bright, positive, impactful, prominent, colourful etc.
> Feels almost too busy however, especially if to appeal to a wider audience and older audiences
> Stripping back may benefit the designs and create more mass appeal while maintaining the consistency in aesthetic with refinery and a modern digital approach
> Illustrations would really benefit the overall direction and give a human approach but this will be more difficult for me to do
> Ways I can incorporate illustration within my skill set in time frame = collage, photographs etc.
> Logo chosen with rest of page after seeing all designs together is also cohesive but feels boring
> 3D ME NO pause too complicated for main visual or would it improve it and bring it more together with other styles?
PEER FEEDBACK
> Like the gradient and bold colours, and 3D elements
> Target audience does not coincide with mass appeal, but doing both mass appeal and refinery appeal is difficult and mass appeal is more boring to create
> As refinery similar aesthetic works well
> Don’t like the self assurance as it feels like a financial visual
> More 3D elements (eg quote marks) should be used in images like in highlight visuals, which work really well.
> Logo black should be white?
> Take risks one: colours too similar in angular gradient makes it stand out less.
> Risky also illegible and menopause bad kerning in 3D
Reflection
> Using emojis as replacements of words may be faster communication but does not work with 3D elements, too many going on at once, and creates a younger aesthetic that may throw off older audiences
> General images replacing words is still a strong direction, but could be more interesting images
> Should plan all positive points gathered from research for visuals, quotes, and additional celebrity images
> Start sketching of website and how this would formulate
> Posters and billboards too?
