Self-promotion and standing out
> When promoting work and sending it through to places you can place your work and contextualise it in a scope that is relevant to them (eg. here they take different perspectives on the work but it means all the work feels relevant to their content and is featured on more sites)
> Use the different features on social media to your advantage, what did you see on that platform that led you to buying something? How did they entice you? Follow through with that same direction and idea
> Giving out tips to people means people will follow you and your identity as it will help them, which in turn gets you more traction and presence (you can choose what it is you share)
> Creating a portfolio and application for somewhere using their publicity and aesthetic eg. spotify wrapped 'your 2020 intern wrapped'. Then posted on LinkedIn using all the hastags Spotify used to release their wrapped so she gets all the publicity (spotify playlist where each song reads a sentence about hiring her)
> After creating this unique CV she shared this with thousands more people for a possible other opportunities on social media platforms - if you've spent the time making something share it!
> LinkedIn more likely to stand out as there is less creative stuff, Dots good for creatives
> You can use your own platform to talk about other creatives you like and work you like, whilst using your own graphic design style and work to talk about it. This way you gain traction from reviewing others, show your interest and understanding and also present your work
> The more you share (linkedin, instagram, sending to designboom etc) and connect the more people see your work and the more chance you have of being seen and hired
> If stuck on work, post it and ask how to progress it. Don't sit on work because you're a perfectionist!
