GAIA EXRTH Evaluation

Unlike Preternatural, this collaboration was less developed and finished than I would've hoped. Unfortunately with the time frames of the designers, then photography, then editing and then designing it all cut too close to Rhianna's deadline. We are both looking to develop and finish this project after uni, especially EX1RTH by June 5th as the designers want to show it to Hunger Magazine and iD Magazine, which is a really good opportunity to showcase my work as well. As a team Rhianna and I again proved our working relationship is great and we were both able to inspire and rely on each other during the stress of deadlines while trying to complete some of this project. I think what I managed for the time frame is good but could have been better, and am aware there are definitely refinements that can be made for the first book designed book. Once we had both agreed that only one should be designed and the other laid out in a more simple way, this made it much less stressful. However, there were consistent issues and changes that had to be made even throughout this simplified process, including image edit changes post PDF exporting and publication mock ups, which was frustrating and time consuming for me. What I have found however is that these are a part of the process, and I have known since first year in producing books that the process is intricate and refinements must be made consistently, (particularly for the production stage). Each time I do these things however I get better and faster at it, I just need to make sure that I am not doing it so quickly that I don't notice mistakes, as fixing these post export is more work.

To Remember:

> Be patient with the process of collaborating even in times of stress as it can involve mistakes made by both you (the designer) and the photographer (which you can do nothing about apart from help fix)

> Putting yourself out there to do more for the collaborator (eg. suggestion of mock ups rather than just PDF for EX1RTH) is a great way to solidify yourself as helpful and someone to come to in the future for work
